Just as destination
guides are essential for trip planning, travel
advisories are a requirement for the international traveler.
U.S. citizens planning international travel are strongly urged to read
the Travel Warnings and Consular Information Sheets issued by the U.S.
Department of State. A Travel Warning is issued when the State
Department decides, based on all relevant information, to recommend that
Americans avoid travel to a certain country or region. Countries where
travel avoidance is recommended will have posted Travel Warnings as well
as Consular Information Sheets available.
Travel Health Warnings and Travel Health Precautions are posted by the
Centers for Disease Control for countries or locations within a country
where a known health threat is present. The CDC may also issue
advisories for locations within the U.S. when appropriate.
