Ten Spider Tech Breaks Orbit

I am pleased to announce that Ten Spider Technology & Science has been split from the Ten Spider Enterprises website to acquire independent status. This separation, completed on 8 January 2008, will allow for greater focus and name recognition. Ten Spider Tech will remain an integral part of the Ten Spider Enterprises family of websites.

Ten Spider Technology & Science provides a comprehensive and up-to-date collection of science and emerging technology information and resources to aid in personal, entrepreneurial and business endeavors. It is third in a series of websites to be spun off from the main Ten Spider Enterprises site.

New Tech News & Technology Current Events Links

I've just added one new technology news link and two new science news links to our Tech News & Technology Current Events page. The new additions are Israeli Technology from IsraCast™, NOVA - Science in the News from the Australian Academy of Science and Science in Africa by Science Magazine for Africa CC. I believe that these links, added to the nine links and five RSS feeds already present, represent valuable resources for visitors interested in the latest tech news, science news and technology current events.

Ten Spider Technology & Science offers a comprehensive and up-to-date collection of science and emerging technology information and resources. We presently provide 928 active links in addition to RSS feeds within this section. If you have any interesting links you would like to see included, please let me know.

New Robotics & Automation Links

I've recently been updating our Robotics & Automation section. I've added five new links for Industrial Robots, four links for Robotic Welding, and two links each for Robotic & Automation Software Development and Future Robots: Emergence of The Thinking Machine. These additions bring the total number of links in the Robotics & Automation section to an even 100 plus some RSS robotics news feeds. You can locate all the resources within the section by reviewing the sectional sitemap. (If your browser does not take you to the sitemap, just click the "Local SiteMap" button at the top of the page.) Have a suggestion for an additional robotics link? Drop me an email or add a comment.

Four New Volcanology Links

I've added four new links to our Volcanoes & Volcanology page, bringing the total number of links on this page to 22. I've also improved the navigation for the page.

Links added address current volcanic activity, for those of you who wish to explore the latest fiery upheavals on our planet, The Old Faithful WebCam, which made me feel almost as if I were there (I was lucky enough to just witness a geyser eruption, which was really cool!), Volcano Live, an interesting website by Australian volcano educator and photographer John Search, and the website of the Volcanological Survey of Indonesia, which unfortunately does not have a great deal of English translation (although it does show an early warning box for Indonesian volcanoes) but will be of value to our Indonesian visitors.

I'll continue to periodically update this page. For complete information on topics pertaining to technology and science, see Ten Spider Technology & Science and the accompanying sitemap.

Cerium Oxide Nanotubes Get Noticed

Chemists and materials scientists often study "nanotubes" -- capsule-shaped molecules only a few billionths of a meter in width. In nanotube form, many materials take on useful, unique properties, such as physical strength and excellent conductivity. Carbon nanotubes are the most widely investigated variety. Now, in pioneering research, scientists at the U.S. DoE's Brookhaven National Laboratory have created and investigated the properties of nanotubes made of a different, yet equally interesting material: cerium oxide.

Polar Neutrino Observatory Takes a Big Step Forward

From PhysOrg.com

An international team of scientists and engineers has taken a major step toward completion of what will be the world's preeminent cosmic neutrino observatory, harnessing a sophisticated hot-water drill to build an observatory under the South Pole that eventually will encompass a cubic kilometer of ice.

NASA's Spitzer Sees Nine Billion Years Back in Time

From PhysOrg.com

Astronomers using NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope have conducted a cosmic safari to seek out a rare galactic species. Their specimens - clusters of galaxies in the very distant universe - are few and far between, and have hardly ever been detected beyond a distance of 7 billion light-years from Earth.
